Rust Servers Burned Down in OVH, Players Lost Progress
Today's fire in the OVH server building not only resulted in connectivity problems for some services, but also led to the death of up to 25 European servers of Rust. The lost data cannot be restored.
Today's fire in the OVH data center, which we reported a few hours ago, affected not only many of the company's customers but also the players. The poor performance of servers affected the owners of Euro Truck Simulator 2, but it seems that the biggest blow came at the members of the Rust community . As reported by the devs on Twitter dedicated to the game, up to 25 European servers were down, but they are gradually returning to work. Unfortunately, there were serious losses, as it turns out, it will not be possible to restore data from the destroyed servers.
The SGB2 data center destroyed by fire may mean the end of fun for many European Rust players. The destroyed clouds contained data and user records of the aforementioned 25 bases, and given that the damage is irreversible, many veterans will lose hundreds of hours of progress and will have to start over. Of course, the team at Facepunch Studios is already working on replacing the damaged hardware.
As we mentioned, poor server performance as a result of the OVH fire was also reported by ETS2 devs. Admittedly, they did not suffer losses even close to those of Rust, but European players nevertheless complain about lags in gameplay. The team is constantly monitoring the situation.
