Yooka-Laylee to get a playable demo in July
Some of Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter backers are soon going to be rewarded with a playable demo, available in July on PC. The final game is planned to release in October 2016.
New details have emerged on the much-anticipated 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee as the developers from Playtonic Games decided to lift the curtain of silence. Starting from July, fans who supported the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie with at least L20 on Kickstarter will get a playable demo called The Toybox (available exclusively on PC). This is going to be more than just a chunk of the game – backers will get a separate sandbox experience instead that will show off the mechanics without revealing anything about the story. About the demo the devs had the following to say:
The Toybox isn’t a traditional ‘demo’, but a self-contained, spoiler-free sandbox designed to give Yooka-Laylee backers a taste of the platforming to come in the final game. There are plenty moves to try, custom-built props to play with, secrets to discover and yes, shiny collectibles to hunt out.
It is still too early to pinpoint Yooka-Laylee’s release date, but Playtonic are still aiming at the original October 2016 launch window. Before they establish a solid date they’ll first make sure the game meets the quality standard expected by the fans. In the coming weeks we will learn more about the title from eyes-on previews and at this year’s E3 showcase. Yooka-Laylee is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and WiiU.
