Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity is an action adventure game with RPG and survival horror elements. It was developed by Pugware, an independent studio, and was inspired by such titles as Resident Evil, Dark Souls and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Plot

Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity takes us on a journey to an alternative version of the nineteenth-century Europe, to be exact - to the fictional Angelic Empire of Britannia. We take on the role of a daredevil who finds himself in Berelai's mansion. His task is to get to the source of the mysterious fog, because of which the servants of the manor fell into madness.

Game mechanics

In Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity we observe the action from a side camera hanging above the character's head. While wandering through the thrilling Berelai's mansion, we have to be constantly on guard, because at any moment we can be attacked by the maddened servants. Of course, we are not defenseless, and to eliminate opponents we have katana and Waltham A9 cannon. As befits a soulslike game, during the dynamic battles we must not only show dexterity and reflexes, but also carefully study the movements of enemies to discover their weak points in time. It is worth remembering that even a regular opponent can put us down. We regenerate the health by drinking potions, but they are quite rare.

Technical aspects

Pixel art graphics of Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity looks gloomy. The dark stylistics is intensified by the almost omnipresent fog, through which we often see only small fragments of the locations.
