Planet of the Apes is a huge science fiction series that includes not only movies, but also books, comics and TV shows. It tells the story of the clashes between humans and intelligent apes, who fight each other for control. And while it all started with a book by French writer Pierre Boulle, we’ll now focus on the films themselves, of which there have been quite a few – including this year's upcoming one there are as many as 10.

Planet of the Apes films: chronological order

Planet of the Apes has a complicated chronology, and while you can watch the movies as they came out, you won't then know the events in the correct order. Therefore, for those who would prefer to see, one by one, how the war between humans and intelligent apes developed, we have a complete list of films from the Planet of the Apes series in chronological order:

  1. Rise of the Planet of the Apes – 2011
