The player is brought into a world where climate changes and dwindling natural resources led to a global conflict and the destruction of human civilization. However, the last humans survived in underground shelters, where they were supposed to remain in cryogenic chambers until the surface of the Earth becomes inhabitable again.

Players become the survivors, who need to find shelter and supplies in order to have a chance against the living dead.
