Bannerlord - Percentages in Dialogues May be Irrelevant

According to some users, the dialogue system in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord lies to the players with false percentages. In many cases, a theoretical 90% chance of success turns out to be fake. It is not certain whether it is the result of faulty mechanics or a protection against so-called save scumming.

Is the dialogue system in Bannerland deceiving players?

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Some players think that M&B2's dialogue system show a false chance of success when trying to use skills;
  2. Some users indicate that the so-called save scumming, i.e. the practice of saving and reloading the game to get a desired effect, does not work in Mount & Blade 2.

One Reddit user has published a post with an interesting thesis about the dialogue system in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. He speculates that the percentages we see when talking to NPCs are of little importance. Some players even suggest that their goal is... to intentionally mislead.

"Those numbers are misleading on purpose i think, especially when you have low charisma. A lot of the times a low percentage answer that is in line with the person you are talking to is more likely to succeed," JInThere speculates.

"It's so true, I had 70 charm from the game literally just farming charm, and when I went to look for a spouse. I failed everytime and there was no women in Calradia that wanted to marry," describes JonDaMasta.

A user by the name of Rakonas notes that in the case of Mount & Blade 2 save scumming is of no use. It cannot be ruled out that this is the root of the whole problem - by loading the game several times we will always get the same result, which may give the impression that the system is not working properly.

"Save scumming doesn't do anything. The game apparently doesn't change the RNG seed when you re-load. When you re-load, you will always get the same results. Maybe try picking the ones with less chance to win, but if you do the same exact thing, the RNG is exactly the same, so you will get the same result," he says.

And what do you think? Does the dialogue system in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord actually show false percentages? Does it work out as it is?
