Swift Answer to Crushing Reviews: Patch for Callisto Protocol on PC
The highly anticipated survival horror game The Callisto Protocol launched yesterday. Unfortunately, the PC version of the game is severely unpolished, which is reflected in criticism from the players. Developers from Striking Distance have responded with first patches.
Yesterday The Callisto Protocol finally landed on store shelves. Striking Distance's game. advertised as a flesh-and-blood horror game, really turned out to be a horror... especially for PC gamers. While console owners can enjoy the thrill-inducing story without much trouble, PC users are tearing their hair out of their heads because of the troubles they encounter during the game.
As expected, poor optimization of the game in the PC version led to a wave of crushing criticism that descended on The Callisto Protocol. The mood of players is perfectly reflected in the ratings of the horror game on Steam, which were "mostly negative."
Fortunately the developers were quick to respond and, back on the day of release, announced via Twitter that a patch was being worked on to fix the game's performance problem and that it would be available in the coming hours. We also learned from the post that the studio is working on a number of other updates that are also on the way.
As it turns out, the developers at Striking Distance were not throwing words to the wind and the patch is already available to the players, improving the optimization of The Callisto Protocol on personal computers.
It seems that the update has lived up to expectations, as the game's tab on Steam has seen a percentage of positive reviews exceeding 40%, which means an "mixed" reception. If the developers continue to work at such a pace, they may be able to erase the bad impression their work made in the first hours after the official release.
