Fallout: New Vegas Mod Overhauling Voices Goes Live

Fallout: New Vegas received the Brave New World mod, which introduces many changes in the area of voice acting. The creators have re-recorded dialogues of over 140 characters to increase the diversity of voices in Obsidian Entertainment's game.

The characters of F:NV can now speak with changed voices.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Fallout: New Vegas received the Brave New World mod that improves voice acting;
  2. The creators of the mod have conducted more than 30,000 auditions and recordings and have given new voices to nearly 145 NPCs to diversify this aspect of the game.

Fallout: New Vegas has finally received the much-awaited Brave New World mod, which is making significant changes in the area of voice acting - the lines of more than 140 characters have been re-recorded (about 7000 dialogue lines in total). The main goal of the project was to make this aspect of the game much more diverse (developers were criticized for hiring too few actors, so despite the generally high level of sound, voices are often repeated).

"If the characters had excellent acting, i.e. Caesar, Doc Mitchell, Legate Lanius or were iconic characters, we chose to leave them alone. Our main focus was to mitigate 'cloning', and to improve upon acting, pacing, and casting," said one of the creators for PC Gamer.

The creators of the mod conducted over 30 thousand auditions and recording sessions. In addition, the appearance of some characters was changed to better reflect their character.

It took the creators as long as four years to develop the mod, but the final effect of their work is to meet high quality standards. To see if this is the case, just have a look at the following video published on the LucianHector channel on YouTube. We can also simply download Brave New World from Nexus Mods.

As a reminder, Fallout: New Vegas debuted on October 19, 2010 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
