Lovecraftian horror game Conarium headed for PC and consoles in early 2017
Conarium is a horror adventure game inspired by a novella by H.P. Lovecraft. The game is planned to come out early 2017 for PC and consoles
Iceberg Interactive has announced that they became an international publisher of the Lovecraftian horror adventure Conarium (alias Transcend), which is being developed by Turkish studio Zoetrope Interactive, the creators of Darkness Within and it’s sequel. As for the plot, Conarium is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s novella At the Mountains of Madness, but set after the original story. The game is slated for release in Q1 2017 and will be available on PC and unspecified consoles (most likely PlayStation 4 and Xbox One).
You’ll get to play as Frank Gilman, a member of the Upuaut expedition led by Dr. Faust, whose goal is to pass beyond the limits of human consciousness by means of a device called Conarium. Frank wakes up alone in the Antarctic expedition base, and soon he discovers that having used Conarium, he has died and returned back to life, although slightly changed. The protagonist has to explore the base as well as his own visions and alternative realities to learn what happened to him. Note that death in the game is not the end – upon dying Frank is teleported to another location, where he may find additional clues.
As befits a horror game, Conarium will feature dark, ominous aesthetics, but at the same time the graphics will be of high quality level, thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 4. Take a look at some screenshots below:
