Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy With Linear Campaign and Two Modes on Next-gen
Thanks to Game Informer, we learned a lot of new information about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, an action RPG from Eidos Montreal.
- The order of visiting planets will be set in advance;
- Between the missions we will return to the ship, where we will talk to our companions;
- On next-gen, we'll choose between 4K/30fps and 1080p/60fps modes.
Square Enix announced Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy during E3 2021. The latest issue of Game Informer magazine brought a lot of new information about this project.
It's a sci-fi action RPG with combat that focuses on shooting, so a lot of people started hoping for something along the lines of Mass Effect series. In reality, the game will be very linear. In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy we will visit many different planets, but we will not be able to decide which of them to go to. The order of discovering them will be set in advance.
Between missions we will return to our ship, the Milano, where we will talk to our companions. For now, however, the creators did not reveal whether we will be able to fly it during the campaign.
The action of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will take place twelve years after the end of the galactic war, during which Gamora betrayed Thanos and Drax lost his family and swore to kill the mad titan.
The game is based mainly on comic books, so Peter Quill (Star-Lord) is to be the son of the emperor of the planet Spartax. The character's appearance will also differ from what we know from the silver screen, but among alternative costumes there will be variants based on the movies.
During the game we'll unlock many types of ammunition for Quill's weapons and they'll turn out to be useful not only during in combat, but also while solving puzzles. In the game we'll control only Star-Lord, and the rest will follow our orders. Each character is to have unique special abilities, which are designed to make possible joint actions of several heroes.
The devs also promise heavily improved graphics on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, which will include nicer shadows and reflections. Players on next-gen will be able to choose between playing in 4K and 30 fps or in 1080p and 60 fps. It is unclear which of these options and effects will be available on the Xbox S Series.
Guardians of The Galaxy will be released on October 26 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
