Guardians of the Galaxy Looks Great; Release Coming This Year

It's happening, Square Enix has confirmed Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos Montreal. It will not be a live-service game, but a story-driven single-player production with no DLCs or microtransactions.

Just as the leaks suggested, Square Enix's presentation brought the announcement of a game based on the Guardians of the Galaxy license. The publisher did not limit itself to showing a trailer - we also received a long gameplay video and a handful of information from the developers.

Contrary to the fears of some, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will not be a live-service game in the vein of Marvel's Avengers but a strictly single-player adventure focusing on the story, without microtransactions or DLCs. During the game we'll be making various decisions as Peter "Star Lord" Quill, leading (at least formally) a team composed of Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax. The developers at Eidos Montreal have indicated that the game will not feature carbon copies of these characters as they appeared in films or comics, but rather an interpretation of them. The same applies to the story, being a completely new adventure of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on October 26 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
