Description:

Ashes: Blackwater is a singleplayer FPS set in a post-apocalyptic world. It is a spin-off of the popular game *Ashes*.

It's set in 2063 in the same universe, though in a different timeline, one where a certain scavenger failed to help a general and his men 3 years ago. Their failure caused many changes in the landscape of the City. The biggest one being the triumph of a Gang meant to be destroyed.

Though it features no new maps, Blackwater offers a different spin on 6 maps from Afterglow and Hard Reset which now form a cohesive hub structure. This is the story of an unknown scavenger going through the toughest night of his life, facing dangers from both humans and mutants to find a way out of the city. It features a few returning characters from old episodes, new dialogue and lore about the situation the City finds itself in.

It features an arsenal comprised mostly of Afterglow guns with two returning weapons from Hard Reset and a certain weapon from Dead Man Walking, though behaving slightly differently and with its very own new upgrade path.

Finally and most controversially, this episode features mechanics from the upcoming though currently on hold, Trenchrunner episode. Mainly a new radiation system based on long term consequences rather than short term traversal hasards of standard ashes. To counter radiation, some items have been altered and some added, including a whole new food system linked to the economy of the City.

This episode is meant as a *FINAL CHALLENGE* After you have been through all official episodes of Ashes, from 2063 to Hard Reset. It assumes you have played these and likely in the harder difficulties. It is meant as a challenge for those who have been waiting for new Ashes content since Hard Reset dropped. Be prepared and enjoy.

Instructions:

The project originally consists only of .pk3 file. We’ve prepared this archive to also include everything else you need to play, so in addition to the mod, you’ll also find the GZDoom program and a .iwad file for Freedoom2 (a free replacement for Doom II).

To play Ashes: Blackwater, extract the archive to any location, go to the project folder, and drag the “Ashes Blackwater.pk3” file onto “gzdoom.exe”.
