Romero's Heresy is a mod for Doom II, created by diabolo666.

Description:

This is an unofficial patch for Heretic: SOTSR 1.3. It will essentially port the Heretic levels to Doom II so they can be played with Doom monsters and weapons. This patch creates quality Doom levels featuring very good classic style gameplay.<br>It's a tribute to John Romero, producer of Heretic, hence the name.<br>The necessary Heretic resources (levels, musics, sounds and graphics) are extracted at the user's computer. Both games are required for installation and only Doom II to play.

--------------------------------------------------------<br>INSTALLATION NOTES<br>--------------------------------------------------------

Patch installation is easy and safe.

+ Unzip RHERESY.ZIP in a new empty folder.<br>+ Then copy your Doom II and Heretic: SOTSR iwads there.<br>+ Launch HERPATCH.BAT. The pwad file RHERESY.WAD will be created.<br>+ You'll just need RHERESY.WAD, and of course your original DOOM2.WAD, to play.

This patch has been tested under Win 9x, 2k, XP and 7 32 bit.

IMPORTANT: Only the 32 bit versions of Vista and 7 can run the patch.

For linux and other unsupported OSes users sorry but you'll need to use a virtual machine to apply the patch (VMware, VirtualBox or Virtual PC). For DOS you'd need CSDPMI and SMARTDRV but it would be very slow.

The mod is fully compatible with ZDoom 2.0.63a, GZDoom 0.9.28, Skulltag 0.96f, Zandronum, ZDoomGL 0.81, Vavoom 1.32, EDGE 1.29, 3DGE and later versions.<br>For GZDoom you'll need lights.pk3 or lights.wad. There's an included weapons mod for EDGE but no splashes.<br>RHERESY is compatible with Brutal Doom, Project Brutality and Fearrific too! You'll need to load rheresy.wad first and then all your stuff. Lost souls get stuck sometimes with these mods however (use the skullfix mutator).<br>Risen3D 2.2, Odamex and ZDaemon run with limitations.<br>Everything else either might be unplayable or won't run at all.

To reach some areas or to escape from others sometimes you'll need to 'use' walls to activate a teleporter or a lift since you can't fly in Doom. Sometimes you'll need to jump to reach some platforms but this is rare.
