Description:
This application allows for an easy launch of mods and management of large collections of mods for Warhammer 40K Dawn of War: Definitive Edition. Supports launching from both the original Soulstorm Directory and DE directory.
This Tool currently does:
- Checks all installed playable Mods by their .modules and check for their Required Mods.
- Displays if prerequisite Mods are installed or not.
- Allows you to directly start the desired mod, once validated that everything is installed, directly via the Mod Manager.
- Provides you with additional advanced start options such as skipping the intro movies, dev mode etc.
- Allows to directly start the unmodded Base Game.
- Merges Races mods together and create large combiner mods quickly and easily. (Use at your own risk, function remains for archival purposes.)
- No more problems with CTD's when installing new mods that require other mods to work which you were previously unaware of.
- Scans your game directory for file changes and immediately update, without having to restart.
- Remembers the options from your last session.
- Auto updates to latest version should we push a new update. (EDIT: 22/12/2024, auto-updates have been resumed, following switch of repos, read bellow for more information.)
- Allows you to easily find and install missing mods.
- Remove Map ambient fog easily via a checkbox. (Not available yet!)
- (22/12/2024) No Precaching of models. This parameter can be used to save on memory and improve performance but no team colouring will be applied and some other 3D bugs may become apparent. Use only if absolutely necessary! Before that, we recommend looking at our Troubleshooting Section of our Wikia.
- Supports the GoG release of the game. A switch is present on the main UI.
- Native DXVK support. Now users can install, update and remove the latest working version of DXVK just by clicking one button! DXVK uses the Vulcan Driver as a render which is far more resource efficient, effectively resolving most if not all RAM related crashes, offering a much more stable experience while playing DOW!
IMPORTANT NOTE : If you find your game is immediately crashing as soon as you start it up after installing it, it means either your card does not support Vulkan, or your Graphics Driver doesn't. A Graphics Driver update MAY fix this. There is also the potential downside that you may experience the occasional issue with Alt-tabbing, although DoW has always been a bit dodgy with Alt-tabbing anyway. This will NOT break Multiplayer compatibility.
INSTALLATION:
Drop the Executable file and the into the same directory where the W40k.exe is located (...\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Definitive Edition\) be sure that you didn't rename the game .exe in the first place.
It'd cause desyncs in Multiplayer anyway (Renaming the Soulstorm.exe not using this tool)
Then create a shortcut of the executable on your desktop for easy access.
UNINSTALLING:
Simply remove the executable since they don't override anything.
PROTIP:
The tool will currently only manage the current folder it was dropped in. If you have multiple Soulstorm installations drop the manager in EACH of them. For better access make a shortcut
to the .exe on your desktop and start your game with any Mod you desire instantly.
NOTES:
* The DoW Mod Manager supports Windows 7 and newer.
* The DoW Mod Manager requires .NET Framework 4.8 to run.
* As DoW DE is a 64bit application, there is no longer need for the LAA patch!
