FEATURES

-Play the entire story as a two player experience

-Or if you don't have a second player, have Ichiban be AI controlled (does not work in freeroam)

-Co-op dance battles (Haruka controls button presses, Ichiban controls direction)

-Co-op hunting

-Ichiban added to taxi minigame, idol battles and handshakes (purely visual with no gameplay impact)

-Modified cutscenes that include the second player (doesn't change narrative)

-Ichiban has his own moveset (disabled if moveset mods are detected)

REQUIREMENTS

-Latest Shin Ryu Mod Manager (v.4.5.8+)

-Steam or GOG version of Yakuza 5 (unsure if it works on pirated copies or MS Store and will not provide support for those)

 

INSTALLATION

Download the file, open Shin Ryu Mod Manager, press Install Mod button, and choose the RAR file you just downloaded (no need to unzip)

It's recommended to use this method because installing manually may not install the libraries needed for the mod automatically.

When installing updates, its recommended to delete old mod files located at mods/Y5Coop/ folder first to ensure no conflicts

PLAYING ONLINE

This is meant to be a local co-op experience, but several software can make it playable with a friend online.

It's generally recommended to enable LegacyInput (Player 1 Keyboard - Player 2 Controller) for this (Because dual controller setups were not tested that much but if you feel lucky go ahead!)

 

1) Parsec

-Don't forget to choose the appopriate Virtual Gamepad Type on Settings > Host > Virtual Gamepad Type

-To possibly get two controller setup in theory (with Legacy Input Disabled) you should try setting Virtual Gamepad Type to the opposite of who you're playing with, for example, if the host is using a Xbox controller, you should try seting your Virtual Gamepad Type as Dualshock/Playstation

2) RemotePlayWhatever

-Lets you use Steam Remote Play on Yakuza 5 which can be of use on Y5 Co-op, mostly untested.

-Please read QUESTION AND ANSWER section if you have any questions, might be answered there!

-Player 2 can teleport back to player 1 by pressing Start/Select (or equilavent button) on the controller

-Due to the massive scale of the mod, saving whenever you can is encouraged as i cannot guarantee a complete crash free experience!

-Ichiban gains his upgrades with the player (he will unlock counter right hook when Kiryu gets tiger drop etc...)

-The mod has a settings file with a TON of choices that allows you to customize the experience to your liking! (mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini)

-If either player is using keyboard, due to the limitations the camera will focus on the one with keyboard controls

 

TECHNICAL INFORMATION (FOR MODDERS)

-Ichiban's models are based on Kiryu's armature, this means any Kiryu model mod will be automatically compatible for replacing Ichiban, just don't forget to hex edit the internal name in the GMD file.

-Ichiban model was made by adidaskote, and he allows it to be freely used as long as credit is given.

-Exceptions to this rule are models ending with _mg, these are meant for Haruka's idol performance minigame, and the Kiryu armature has been adjusted with Boner tool onto Haruka's armature.

-Ichiban will be inserted to any hact if it has ZA_HUCOOP0 character in it.

-Any hacts in Y5Coop/hact/ that ends with _coop in its name will be used if Ichiban is present (otherwise the original is used)

-HAct CHP and fighter command source files are left in the files for you to use

QUESTION AND ANSWER

Q: Can i make Ichiban use the current player's moveset?

A: Yes, leave Player2Moveset empty in mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini.

 

Q: Can i change camera settings?

A: Yes, you can change camera settings in mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini, the mod uses the default Yakuza camera by default, but you can enable experimental co-op camera that tries to keep both players in focus and center.

 

Q: Can i play it with dual controllers?

A: Yes, make sure both Player1ControlTypeOverride and Player2ControlTypeOverride are empty on mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini, may require Steam Input to be enabled to work properly

 

Q: Ichiban's placement during basic talk cutscenes is distracting, can i disable that?

A: Yes, change DestroyOnTalk to 1 in mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini

 

Q: Can i play this mod with one player?

A: Yes, change AIControlled to 1 in mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini

 

Q: I only want Ichiban during cutscenes and no gameplay, can i do that?

A: Yes, change AutoCreatePlayer to 0 in mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini

 

Q: I don't want the custom cutscenes, is there a way to remove them?

A: Delete auth and strmen folder in mods/Y5Coop

 

KNOWN ISSUES

-Rarely the wrong player will perform the heat action

-Weapons not breaking or reducing duration or whatever when performed by co-op player

-Ichiban uses the wrong voice when in AI Controlled mode

-Kiryu might moan while Ichiban is performing some specific heat actions (don't ask me why)

-Game will crash when finishing the Winter Combat minigame

 

TROUBLESHOOTING

-If both players move at the same time on keyboard, this means input is not being picked on any of the controllers. refer to the settings.ini file in Mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini to see what you can do

-If player 2 does not spawn, this means that mod scripts are not running, ensure you are on latest SRMM, and have both Y5Lib and ResourceLoader installed and enabled from Libraries tab and make sure antivirus is not interfering

-If player 2 spawns but you cant control them (but can navigate the game menus with the input device) refer to the settings.ini file in Mods/Y5Coop/settings.ini to see what you can do

-Setting ConsoleEnabled to 1 in YakuzaParless.ini may give you logs that tell you what has gone wrong (its also useful for me to identify the problem)

-Very rarely one of Ichiban's animations may not load properly which may cause a softlock and require restart

-When reporting issues, please state which platform you are playing Yakuza 5 on and whether you have other mods installed, thanks!
