Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel is the third part of a series of role-playing games prepared by the Japanese studio Gust. In a fictional language created for the game, the word "Qoga" means "the end" and, according to the title, this production is crowned with a plot started in the first installment of the cycle.
Action Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel, like the two previous parts, takes place in the Sol Ciel universe - a powerful structure that levitates over the Death Sea. This world consists of two elements - the giant Ar tonelico tower, which is a remnant of extinct civilization and the continent connected to it. Sol Ciel is inhabited by two races - people and artificial forms of life known as Reyvateil, which were created to take care of the technical condition of the tower and are able to communicate with its systems as the only ones. The plot begins two and a half years after the events of the second part. The majority of the action is concentrated around the state governed by Reyvateil, known as Clusternia.
Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel is a typical Japanese RPG. While having fun, we visit a large world, fulfill our tasks, develop character characteristics and conduct clashes with enemies. However, in comparison to the previous editions, a lot of changes were introduced. The turn-based combat system has been abandoned and replaced by real-time combat. Music plays a much more important role now - during the clashes it is required to carry out attacks according to the rhythm of individual songs. Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel is a niche production, so it is not surprising that there are many surprising and often strange solutions. One of them is the way to increase the power of the characters - the heroines of the game absorb the energy of the planet directly through the skin. The less they carry on themselves, the more damage they deal.
Visual side of Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel is maintained in a style well known from Japanese comics. This is also the first game in the series in which the graphics are fully three-dimensional. The fun is additionally enhanced by intermittent scenes appearing from time to time, looking as if taken out of a good animated film.
