Archangel is a spectacular FPS game created exclusively for Virtual Reality by Skydance. Among other platforms, the game has been released on PC and PS4.
The story takes place at a relatively not distant time in the future on a world destroyed by natural disasters. The United States of America was transformed into a country ruled with an iron fist by megacorporations. Players enter the arena at the point of time when Americans decide to take these matters into their own hands and form a resistance group called the United States Free Forces. A player assumes the role of the pilot who has been tasked with piloting a powerful six-story war machine. On his mission, the main protagonist has to fight a privately owned conglomerate - HUMNX.
The events shown in the PC and PS4 release of Archangel are observed by players from the first-person perspective. The gameplay revolves around battling hordes of opponents that attack from every direction possible - these battles take place in various locations, including picturesque canyons and busy metropolises. During his mission, a player has to fight both mechanized and ground enemy units, as well as flying vessels. On the battlefield, one can use the futuristic firearms his mech is equipped with, however, in desperate situations, one can strike powerful blows with mech’s gigantic fists.
During the combat, the AI-controlled allies make for a helpful company - even though it is up to the player to protect them, e.g. by surrounding them with a protective energy shield. Whenever the adversaries tip the scales towards their victory, or the Archangel’s systems fall below a critical level, our companions release an army of nanobots that repair the main protagonist’s war machine. As the game progresses, one acquires experience points, which allow a player to upgrade his machine and boost its military potential.
The 3D visuals of Archangel are bound to satisfy many players. One has to remember, that the game requires Virtual Reality headgear.

Game Ratings for Archangel Video Game.
PlayStation Universe: 4 / 10 by Timothy Nunes
There's a lot of potential with Archangel, but when so much potential is unrealized, then the end product loses its luster. Archangel is exactly that, starting off with a bang and tapering off too quickly to maintain its level of initial intrigue.
GameZone: 6.5 / 10 by Cade Onder
Although it boasts an impressive story and immerses you in the cockpit of a large mech, Archangel fails to be a memorable on-rails shooter in VR due to its lackluster gameplay.
Wccftech: 8 / 10 by Kai Powell
Archangel puts players into the cockpit of the only giant mech capable of resisting a global terrorist threat. It's a great way to spend an afternoon, although the higher price tag might turn off some players. If you want a finely crafted shooting gallery with a compelling story to match, climb aboard and prepare for battle.
