Armored Core
Continuation of the 1997 Armored Core. The project develops elements of the original, enabling players to try out new types of weapons and mechs on various maps. At the same time, it fleshes out the game world created by the devs - a futuristic universe in which the power are held by influential corporations.
Story
The hero, who belongs to a mercenary group, receives a mysterious message, which was sent through non-standard channels. Encouraged by the prospect of a high award, he leaves Isaac City and sets off for the destroyed Amber Crown complex. There he meets the mysterious Sumika Juutilainen and learns about the Phantasma project, an experimental weapon developed in secret by the Doomsday Organisation.
Mechanics
Armored Core: The Phantasma design is a natural development of the original mechanics. Players take control of a large mech that is equipped with various modern weaponry and carry out subsequent tasks. The action is presented in TPP. Tactics and strategy play an important role in the game. The players must plan further investments in their machine and develop its capabilities with new equipment, depending on current needs and mission requirements. It is essential that the parts are properly adjusted in terms of weight or energy consumption so that the whole design functions properly.
In addition to the story missions, the players can also take part in arena battles. Winning them provide additional money and parts, with the help of which the player can improve their mech.
Game modes
Project Phantasma also enables us to have fun in multiplayer mode. Two players can compete on split screen on a single console or on separate devices and TVs as part of a Link cable connection. Duels take part on large, styled maps using standard designs or constructions created and saved by players.
Technical aspects
Project Phantasma uses the saved game states from the first installment of the series. They provide access to additional equipment, including powerful weapons. Originally in Japan the game was released as a collection of additional missions to Armored Core.
