GameCube is the 6th generation console from Nintendo and a successor to Nintendo 64. It was released on November 18th, 2001 in North America and May 3rd, 2002 in Europe. The heritage of the poor predecessor and lack of clearly specified target (it was hard to tell whether the console was primarily for core gamers or for whole families) resulted in a weak position of GameCube on the market. It was succeeded by Wii in 2006.

The plot of Beyond Good & Evil takes place in an alternative reality, on planet Hyllis, inhabited by a peace-loving nation of humans and humanoid animals. Their world has been attacked by an aggressive Alien species, the DomZ, apparently to claim its resources.
