Beyond Good & Evil for PC, PS2 and etc. is an ambitious action-adventure game created by Michel Ancel, a creator of the famous Rayman series.
The action takes place in an alternative reality, on planet Hyllis, inhabited by a peace-loving nation of Hyllians. Their world has been invaded by an aggressive and destructive alien race, which hopes to take control over its inhabitants. The protagonist of the story is a young reporter named Jade. We meet her in a moment when she is fighting the invaders, defending the island on which she lives. After a hopeless fight, she loses consciousness. During the coma, she is haunted by disturbing visions that make her doubt the new order, which tries to convince the people that the invaders have been defeated, and the planet inhabitants are now safe. Jade suspects that the invasion is much more serious than the government lets on, and when her assumptions coincide with the messages from the rebel organization, IRIS, she begins her own investigation which is supposed to discover the truth, and reveal it to the people.
Our character begins an extended adventure, equipped only with a camera (the photos of rare species of animals can be sold, receiving money which can be used to buy, for example, health points), innate investigative skills, and an aikido staff. Beyond Good & Evil for PC, PS2 and etc. is a mix of dynamic action, including: combat (the protagonist has a wide range of magical and physical attacks), overcoming terrain obstacles (spectacular jumps, etc.), driving various vehicles (including flying ones), riddles and an epic plot, constructed in such a way to make the player anxiously await new events. A modern, three-dimensional graphic engine “Jade Game Engine”, crafted with the game in mind, is responsible for the creation of a spacious, diversified, exotic game world (the game is presented from the third person perspective).
