Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second to MMORPG by Korean Gravity Corp. This is in fact a completely new game that replaced the older Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World. The second position was based on the Unreal 2.5 engine and introduced a lot of changes, which did not appeal to the fans of the original. Some time after the premiere, the creators decided to delete this failed project and start from scratch. The result of this courageous decision is precisely Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second, which was built on Gamebryo technology.

The action takes place in a fantastic world inhabited by three main nations: Rune Midgard, the culturally reminiscent of the Vikings, the industrial Republic of Schwaltzvalt and the deeply religious Arunafeltz. The game draws on Nordic mythology in terms of weaponry, the appearance of cities and the monsters encountered. During the adventures we can visit such locations as the land of the deceased Niflheim, or even Valhalla herself, where the most powerful heroes find their way before being reborn in the new character. The main plot concerns the approaching catastrophe, i.e. the title Ragnaroku, during which the greatest warriors fight a war for the future of the world.

The fun starts with the creation of your own character, and then we set out into the world to look for quests to complete, treasure to collect and monsters to kill. During the adventures, the hero will gain experience points, which we will then spend on developing statistics and buying new skills. The authors made it possible to fight against other players (PvP) as well as to take part in missions, where the enemies are units controlled by artificial intelligence (PvE).

The game is a real return to the roots of the cycle. Practically all the controversial solutions from The Gate of the World, such as the new skill system or the weapon development mechanics assigned rigidly to the character, have been thrown into the bin. New breeds hated by fans also disappeared. In return, they focused on proven solutions from the first part. As a result, the training of animals and old classes of characters (i.e. Knight, Mage, Thief and Priest) were restored. The only merchant known from the original was missing.

The game is also made more attractive by the system of cards modelled on the first part of the cycle, which we collect during fights with monsters. They influence character statistics and provide them with additional power. At the same time we can use up to five cards. In addition, a number of improvements have been made, including an improved mechanics of skirmishes with other players (PvP). The graphic style has also been completely transformed. Slightly caricatured characters looking like children have been replaced by adult models with realistic proportions.

Continuation of the games is not surprising. The game world knows a lot of productions, whose subsequent parts were better than the original. But what does it look like with MMOs? Here the situation is a little more complicated.
