Streets of Rogue 2 PC

Streets of Rogue 2 is the second installment in a series of indie sandbox action games with rogueliek elements. It was developed by the same creator as the first game, Matt Dabrowski, and published by tinyBuild.

Plot

Streets of Rogue 2 is set in a world tyranically ruled by a corrupt president. We play as a rebel aiming to overthrow the dictator. It's up to us how exactly we'll accomplish this.

Mechanics

Streets of Rogue 2 makes use of the top-down perspective. The game features a wide roster of characters; if none prove to our liking, we can also create a custom one. There's also a number of classes, all with individual traits, strengths and weaknesses. These include cops, soldiers, scientists, hackers and ninjas. Our class determines our playstyle and the opportunities we can take.

The game revolves around completing objectives, the most important one being overthrowing the president. We can complete objectives in many different ways. We can organize a coup against the main villain, commit armed robberies or start a business to gain influence. If we so wish, we can also solve the situation in more unconventional ways, such as starting a zombie virus outbreak or dealing with vampires. We can also completely forget about the main objective and focus on side activities. Everything we do affects our reputation, how NPCs perceive and treat us.

The game's world is large and open, a hundred times larger than in the previous game. It's up to us whether we'll sow chaos and destruction, eliminate our targets quietly or leave a quiet life running a farm. We an also explore and discover the world's secrets, on foot or in a car, seeking interesting locations, such as neon-lit cities, dark caves, beautiful islands and creepy graveyards. The world is also procedurally generated, meaning each playthrough is different than the last.

Game modes

Streets of Rogue 2 supports singleplayer and multiplayer, both online and local, cooperative and competitive.

Technical aspects

Streets of Rogue 2 retains its predecessor's colorful pixel art.
