One should remember that you can find sword, axes, scythes, blunt weapons and range weapons. Shields on the other hand, include buckers, triangle shields and large pavises.

Short weapons

Short, one-handed weapons will cause lower damage, but you are unable to strike more quickly. One should remember that the cost of stamina points is also lower. Powerful strikes are based on complex acrobatics, which grant strikes that cover 180 degrees, towards the position that your hero is facing. This is a good solution if you engage in a distance fight and you need a weapon that will quickly kill monsters that have come too close to you. Using short weapons as your primary means of attack is not the best solution in the long run.

Long weapons

Longer weapons combine advantages that come from using less stamina and causing more damage. It's the most common type of weapons due to its rather short time of performing basic strikes and high damage. Such weapons are effective at every stage of the gameplay, your goal should be to obtain equipment of the highest quality available. Powerful strikes focus on the area directly in front of the hero, but this may sometimes differ.

Two-handed weapons

The biggest advantage of this kind of weapons is a high chance of knocking down your enemies. You can hold two-handed weapons in one hand and have a shield in the other one. Powerful strikes combine elements of jumping and consume the greatest part of stamina bar. Due to their size, two-handed weapons take a lot of time to actually perform an attack and use a lot of stamina. Each strike should be prepared in advance, and you will see the difference in the long run.

Special weapons

During your adventure you will come across special pieces of equipment, which you won't obtain from fallen bodies. You should adjust such weapons according to your game style. If you are used to long time of animation associated with two-handed weapons, switching to one-handed ones may lead to your death. In general, special weapons ought to be better than the traditional ones, so collect them or purchase when possible. One should keep in mind that you can find special weapons in the dungeons, which deal elemental damage and are especially effective against mechanical knights.

Range weapons

Range weapons are hard to find, across the first five levels of the catacombs. Later on, you will encounter more enemies that use this type of weapons, so you can just collect it from fallen bodies. Using range weapons is risky and requires more skills than a typical set of a weapon and a shield does. If you are agile enough, you can set your shield in the second slot and switch between them when needed. You need to be very accurate, so lock your camera on enemies. Another disadvantage is the time that it takes to reload. Nevertheless, mastering range weapons can make the gameplay very interesting.

Scythes

The most common type of weapons that you will find on fallen bodies. They are not very effective, so treat them as an extra. Their magic potential is determined by the type of an enemies that was using them, which means that you are going to use it as a blunt weapon through most of the time.

Shields

When it comes to shields, the rule is rather simple. The smaller the shield, the faster you can move and block attacks. On the other hand, blocking with a larger shield will consume less stamina points. It all depends on your game style. You should always try to use the best available equipment, regardless of the size and shape.
