AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Coming Next Year at Decent Price

During the presentation of AMD's new processors, we learned about the prices of the X versions. Meanwhile, standard Ryzen models remain the most popular choice. We don't know how much they will cost, although there was a leak in the case of the R5 5600.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Ryzen 5 5600 (yes, without an "X") leaked - it is said to cost $220 and go on sale in early 2021.

The price of stronger versions of Ryzen CPUs, marked with an "X", was revealed during the last presentation. Still, the majority of sales is still focused in the basic models. We don't know how much they're going to cost at the moment, although there is a leak on the Ryzen 5 5600, which could cost almost $80 less than its stronger counterpart.

This is the information provided by WCCFtech, citing a Chinese source. If we believe this news, Ryzen 5 5600 would cost$220. The source of the leak also gives the CPU's launch date - early 2021.

The table above summarizes what we know about the next-gen AMD processors. I added a question mark with the TDP of Ryzen 5 5600, because I don't think this information is certain. Models with an "X" in the name usually have slightly higher TDP than their "normal" counterparts, so the value here may be slightly different.

It is worth mentioning that the Ryzen 5 5600X turns out to be at least as strong as the Intel Core i7 10700 (source), with a lower starting price. If the standard Ryzen 5 will actually cost that much, it will prove to be an interesting choice for gamers looking for a good performance/price ratio.
