Maneuver Node in KSP 2 Explained

In our Kerbal Space Program 2 guide we will talk about maneuver nodes. If you want to learn more about it, read this article.

Kerbal Space Program 2 was released as an Early Access game. Right now fans are divided about the title. It I not perfect, and it lacks some of the functionalities of its predecessor. However many people remind that the first installment of the series was unpolished as well. We have to be patient and see how it ends. Nevertheless, even now players can use a maneuver node. It is a necessary tool in space travels. In this text we talk about it.

How to create a maneuver node in KSP 2

  1. You can’t create a maneuver node if the game is paused. It is a very inconvenient. We can only hope that it will change in the future.
  2. You can create a maneuver node only in the map view (M key by default)
  3. Your maneuver node must be on the trajectory of your ship. You can recognize it by the line (it is visible only in the map view).

It is a necessary tool to navigate in space. It allows you to plan the changes in the trajectory of your ship. A maneuver node is basically the only way you can prepare long-distance travels. So use it often.

How to use a maneuver node is in KSP 2

  1. Remember to prepare enough fuel. Maneuvers uses power of your engines. You have to have some fuel left, if you want to move the ship. KSP 2 warns you, if the action you want to do requires more fuel, than you have.
  2. Don’t pause the game. We mentioned this in the previous section of the article – you can’t create a maneuver node while Kerbal Space Program 2 is stopped.
  3. You have to pull arrows. You change your trajectory by moving arrows up, down, right, left. It will present you with the graphical illustration of the theoretical new movement range. Many players complain that it is impossible to see the numbers, which makes this system quite unprecise.

  1. In your SAS menu (bottom of the screen) change the mode to maneuver. It will automatically point a ship in the right direction.
  2. Creating a maneuver nod will activate the timer at bottom of the screen. It tells how long you should have your engines running and when to stop them. Listen to it.
  3. You can skip the time to the maneuver node.
  4. Be careful, don’t pull the wrong arrow. If you do that, it is impossible to precisely tell how much you should adjust the opposite line (because there are no numbers). Very often the quickest way to correct the error is to remove the maneuver node and try again.
