Tomb Raider Remaster Rewards Freezing Lara's Butler Winston
An achievement for a gamer joke invented 26 years ago? The makers of the Tomb Raider trilogy remaster decided to pass the time for fans at the expense of the deserving Winston.
For less than a week, players have been raving about the remaster of the Tomb Raider trilogy. The first installments of the Lara Croft adventure series in a revamped version debuted on February 14 and have since been gaining the recognition of fans and a lot of positive reviews.
Players praise Aspyr for a well-made remaster and set it as a model for other developers . A properly designed game is not everything, and the creators have prepared something more for the fans.
Freeze Winston 26 years later.
Winston is the Crofts' butler who first appeared in the series in Tomb Raider II in 1997. Initially, we could only meet him at the level in Lara's mansion, where he followed the heroine carrying a tray of water.
Then the players also figured out that the butler can be locked in the fridge if we manage to get out of it before he does it himself. A similar "operation" could be carried out in the third part of the game, despite the fact that Winston was already a more developed character (the butler put on a bulletproof vest when Lara pulled out her guns and defended himself with a tray against bullets).
26 years later, Aspyr studio decided to follow the fans' joke and also allowed players to lock Winston in the fridge. This time the poor butler is really freezing, which can be seen by his changed color and icing. The effect lasts for a few seconds, after which it automatically goes back to following Lara (if we of course let it go).
Achievement for a lackey
It is worth noting that the creators themselves encourage players to harass Winston, as they have prepared an achievement - Crime and Punishment , which can be obtained by locking the butler in the cold store in the second of the remastered parts. So far, just over 5% of players who bought the renewed Tomb Raider trilogy have decided to commit such a shameful act .
