What PC do you need to play Playerunknown's Battlegrounds at 60 FPS?

The official minimum PC system requirements for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds may be enough to launch the game, but are far too low to play it at comfortable 60 FPS. Find out what PC you really need for the game.

The official minimum PC requirements for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds are not so high – in theory, you just need Intel Core i3-4340 / AMD FX-6300, 6 GB RAM, and GeForce GTX 660 2GB / Radeon HD 7850 2GB to run the program. However, if you want to play the game comfortably at 60 FPS (which really is a must for an online competitive Battle Royale type of game), that configuration won’t be enough. An analysis by PC Gamer reveals what hardware you really need for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. Here are the results:

Real Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds PC requirements

  1. Processor: AMD Ryzen 5-1600 / Intel Core i5-7600K
  2. RAM: 8 GB
  3. Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 1060
  4. DirectX: Version 11
  5. Network: Broadband Internet connection
  6. OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
  7. Disk: 30 GB availabe space

Turns out that in its current state Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds takes huge amounts of computing power. That’s why the game needs a much more powerful processor than the one suggested by Bluehole. Things are even more complicated when it comes to graphics cards. Even GeForce 1060 won’t guarantee stable 60 FPS, especially when you are playing on a higher resolution. PC Gamer suggests setting the level of detail at medium. In the case of GTX 970, it may be necessary to settle for low. As for AMD GPU’s most of them just cannot offer stable 60 FPS. Let’s hope Bluehole will handle the optimization end before the game leaves Early Access.

In other Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds news, find out about its first e-sports tournament and how and why Bluhole is introducing microtransactions to the game, despite having promised they woudn’t do it while the game is still in Early Access.
