Xbox Series S Offers Barely Over 300 GB of Storage And it's a Problem

We have bad news for people planning to buy Xbox Series S. It turns out that the platform will offer only 364 GB of storage space for games and user applications.

The ever-increasing size of games has made the amount of storage space on next-gen consoles a key issue. It turns out that in the case of Xbox Series S we will get only 364 GB for our own apps. The information comes from Reddit user spead20, who received his device a week before its official release.

The console will offer a 512 GB SSD, which means that the operating system will take about 147 GB. Only a few years ago, 364 GB seemed to be a lot of free space, but nowadays more and more games requires over 100 GB. For example, on PC Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War will take up to 250 GB. The console versions will probably be more economical in this respect, but the trend of increasing size is clear and gives reasons for concern to those considering buying Xbox Series S.

By comparison, Xbox Series X, Microsoft's stronger next-gen model, is expected to offer 802GB for games and applications. In the case pf PlayStation 5, on the other hand, there are reports of 664 GB for both variants of Sony's console.

All indications are that gamers will have to get used to cost effective management of their storage. Some game developers will try to make life easier for us by offering the ability to install only part of the content, such as the solo campaign itself or just the multiplayer. We expect that such solutions will soon become a standard. You can also expect high sales of additional storage (all next-gen consoles will have appropriate slots).

Let us remind that Xbox Series X and S will debut on November 10 this year.
