The game is set in Harbor Prime, where luxurious districts stand in contrast to the filth the poor live in. The player has to face a mysterious AI that has broken loose and wishes to make irreversible changes.

Once again he is trying to stop the evil Putzki who is attempting to take over the world. Gameplay mechanics are similar as in the previous installment of the series.

The action is presented from a side perspective.

The hero has to face powerful enemies lurking in the underworld. The production resembles such hits as Castlevania. However, its characteristic feature is a huge portion of good humour. Interestingly, Unepic is available in the Polish language version.

The game focuses on exploration of a randomly generated comic book-like world, avoiding many traps and obstacles, and on combat with encountered enemies. The protagonist can use various shotguns, machine guns, rocket launchers, and grenade launchers.
