Halo 4 Launches on PC; The Master Chief Collection is Complete

Halo 4 port launched on PC. At the same time an update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection dedicated to Xbox Series X/S was released.

Today, Halo 4, a port of a classic FPS, released on 2012 on the Xbox 360 console, launched on PC. The game can be purchased as a standalone title (on Steam and Microsoft Store) or as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection set. The latter option is more cost-effective as the collection is priced at $39.99 and also includes Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST.

If you haven't bought any of the games in this set before, after opening Halo 4's card on Steam you may be surprised to learn that "to play this content, the basic version of Halo: The Master Chief Collectionis required". In reality, however, you can purchase the fourth installment as a stand-alone game and the MCC will then be downloaded as a launcher, without the other games included in the collection.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is also available as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription. It's worth noting that in parallel with the release of the fourth game on PC, a free upgrade for console version owners has been released, offering improvements developed for Xbox Series X and S.

It's only been a few hours since the release of Halo 4 on PC, so it's hard to judge how the port was received, but first impressions are positive. At the time of writing this news the game has 26 user reviews on Steam, 96% of which are positive.

With the release of the fourth installment on PC the whole collection was completed. Currently the only missing title from the series on PCs is Halo 5: Guardians, which is not part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. We hope that sooner or later also this game will be ported. It would also be nice to see Halo Wars 2 released on Steam, as its PC edition is still only available on Microsoft Store.
