Dead Cells: The Ramparts level
Last update:
The following chapter includes information on The Ramparts in Dead Cells. You will learn more about the very location, creatures that you will come across, other locations that you can visit and what requirements you need to fulfil to do that.
Location specification

Ramparts is a biome level 3 location which means that the monsters in that region are stronger than those from the starting locations. This region consists of towers and walls connected with each other. Your visit in this location during your first playthrough is mandatory. You don't have to own any runes to enter it - the passage to Ramparts is in the Promenade.
The majority of your time in Ramparts is spend on exploration of its highest level. However, there are moments where you can find passages that lead to lower floors. One of these passages leads to The Black Bridge (one of the main locations) where you will have to face The Concierge.
Falling into the spaces between the towers' rooftops usually leads to your character's death. Be careful and use a double jump to land on a neighbor tower or ledge. If you fall, you either receive a lot of damage or you will die. The second variant is probable when your character was already weakened before the fall.
Ramparts have another timed door. This one leads to a secret chamber - you can open the door if you manage to reach it within 8 minutes. After that the door will get closed (you won't be able to acquire its treasures). Inside, you can find various rewards, e.g. jewels, gold, Cells, scrolls or unique weapons.
Enemies and other hazards
You won't come across many sophisticated traps. The greatest hazard are the pits - if you are not careful enough, you can easily fall down or get pushed by one of your enemies.
It's highly possible that you will come across an elite enemy.
Note! The list below consists of monsters encountered on the normal difficulty level. Boss Stem Cells, received by defeating the final boss, unlock higher difficulties. After that you can come across new and more powerful versions of the monsters.
Appearance | name | Description |
![]() | Undead archer | The enemy will fire single arrows at you and leap to maintain safe distance. Roll under his arrows or crouch (the down button). An Undead Archer can be attacked with a ranged or a melee weapon (the latter is a better choice). You may also stun your enemy if he belongs to larger group of opponents. |
![]() | Zombie | Once the creature spots you, will lean towards you and launch a charge attack. Touching the zombie deals you more damage. You can avoid his leap by jumping over the Zombie or by rolling under him. |
![]() | Inquisitor | Not that dangerous but can fire projectiles that ignore walls, floors and other obstacles. As a result, avoiding projectiles can be more difficult. You can also get surprised by one of them. Always try to get close to an Inquisitor and defeat him in melee combat - he is defenseless at a close distance. |
![]() | Shield bearer | You know this enemy from the Prisoners' Quarters. One of the toughest enemies in this location. Attacking the shield won't do anything, and after some time the bearer will charge at us and use the shield to stun us and deal massive damage. Your only chance is to jump over the creature or roll over and end up behind it. When that happens, quickly attack the enemy. Although the opponent will react almost immediately, one successful strike should be enough to throw him off balance. Later, you will be able to rely on weapons and skills that can, e.g. set enemies on fire or poison them. These negative statuses can be inflicted on a Shieldbearer even when he hides behind his shield. |
![]() | Buzzcutter | A very annoying enemy that often attacks in larger groups. The creature will levitate slightly above you, so you won't be able to harm it with a normal attack. The biter will perform a quick flying attack. Rely on ranged weapons that can target enemies automatically, e.g. electric whip. These creatures will often follow you, so it's very important to deal with them before they surround you. |
