Canabalt is a free 2D platformer developed by Adam Saltsman for the Experimental Gameplay Project in 2009.

Description:

The player takes on the role of an unnamed man fleeing from an unknown threat. At the start of the game, the player’s character jumps out of an office building window onto the roof of the neighboring building. He then automatically runs forward, constantly accelerating as he moves. The only control the player has over the character is a single button that makes him jump—either from building to building or over obstacles. A failed jump to another building will result in a fall and death, while colliding with a crate or an office chair will slow him down. Bombs also appear along the player’s path, causing death if they cannot be avoided.

Unlike most platformer games, where levels are pre-defined and can be completed, the landscape in Canabalt is procedurally generated and has no end. The goal of the game is to achieve the best possible score, measured in meters.
