How to install

Download the optimization file here on Nexus.

Go to your game’s options/config folder.

Usually located in:

Documents\dying light the beast\out\settings

or inside the main game directory.

Replace the existing file with the downloaded one.

What does this file do?Here are the main optimizations applied:

1. RendererMode("d3d12") › forces DirectX 12 for better performance on modern GPUs.
2. Resolution(1920,1080) › sets base resolution to Full HD (1080p).
3. AsyncCompute(1) › enables asynchronous compute for better GPU usage.
4. FSR(0.505000) + Upscaler(3) › enables FSR 3 with sharpness tuning for balanced performance/quality. (I'm using FSR4 on my 6000 series GPU with performance mode equal to quality mode, I recommend testing to gain more fps and have a superior upscaler)if you want to use click here??
5. TextureQuality("Medium") › medium textures to reduce VRAM usage without big visual loss.
6. ShadowsQuality(2) › medium shadows for a good performance/quality balance.
7. GrassQuality(0) › reduces grass/foliage to free up GPU resources.
8. MotionBlur(1) + MotionBlurQuality("High") › keeps motion blur enabled at high quality.
9. FilmGrain(0) + ChromaticAberration(0) › disables unnecessary effects that only hurt image clarity.
10. FogQuality(1) › low fog quality to save GPU cycles.
11. ReflectionsQuality(2) › medium reflections, good immersion with stable FPS.
12. VoxelGiQuality(2) › medium global illumination.
13. LodMultiplier(130) › adjusts level of detail for distant objects (optimized balance).
14. AnisoOptMaxAnisotropy(16) › anisotropic filtering at 8x for sharper textures.
15. SmartGIQuality(1) › low smart GI to save performance.

Result: Stable FPS + balanced visual quality.

How to edit manuallyIf you want to customize:

1. Rename the file to .txt.
2. Open it with Notepad or any text editor.
3. Adjust the values (e.g., increase resolution, change shadows, enable effects).
4. Save the file and rename it back to the game’s original config extension.
5. Set the file to Read-only (Properties › Check "Read-only") so the game won’t overwrite your settings.
