A spin-off of the FPP action zombie series from the Polish studio Techland. Dying Light: The Beast takes us to Castor Woods area and we can play as Kyle Crane from Dying Light 1. As a result of previous events, Kyle is now a stronger hybrid of a human and a zombie.
Dying Light: The Beast is a spin-off of a series of action games with RPG elements, set in a world taken over by the living dead. This game initially started as an add-on to Dying Light 2: Stay Human, but over time grew so much that it became a standalone project. It was developed by the Polish studio Techland.
The main character of Dying Light: The Beast is Kyle Crane, known from the first part of the series and its add-on The Following. After 13 years of brutal experiments, the protagonist regains his freedom and plans to take revenge on his tormentors. The hunt for the latter leads him to Castor Woods, once swarming with tourists, now serving as an arena for various factions and hordes of zombies. As if that wasn't enough, a powerful beast is prowling here and because of it no one can sleep peacefully.
In Dying Light: The Beast we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The game provides us with an open world, where we will find both wild and rural areas, as well as industrial complexes. Kyle can move around on foot, using parkour skills to overcome off-road obstacles, and behind the wheel of an off-road vehicle.
While exploring Castor Woods, the protagonist, who is a hybrid of a human and a zombie, meets its inhabitants and performs quests for them, collects increasingly better equipment and modifies the already owned gear (thanks to an extensive crafting system), and also faces hordes of enemies. Crane's path is obstructed by both hostile people and monsters.
As is standard for the series, during the day the hero is a hunter who can move around the environment relatively freely and eliminate hordes of enemies using his deadly powers and weapons. After dark, the living dead grow stronger, and Kyle becomes their prey, forcing him to hide or run away more often.
In Dying Light: The Beast we can play alone or in online multiplayer mode for up to 4 people.
Dying Light: The Beast was made available for free to all owners of the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2: Stay Human.

Dying Light: The Beast review - slashing zombies is now even better
Dying Light: The Beast is neither an expansion nor a sequel. However, it is another good opportunity for an extremely spectacular extermination of zombies in a beautiful, open world of reasonable size.

I’ve seen Dying Light: The Beast in action. The gameplay makes a huge departure from Dying Light 2 – although the addition of firearms doesn’t turn it into a shooter.
The year 2025 is full of great releases, but according to Jason Schreier, the game industry has reached a tipping point. The Bloomberg journalist points out that even the best titles can be lost in the crowd today, because there are simply too many games.

The game is great, but the Easter eggs are even better. Techland decided to mine some blocks in Dying Light The Beast.

Parkour feels more fluid than before, with sprinting through the city and rooftop traversal feeling super smooth (as long as you don’t get grabbed by an infected). Roger Craig Smith does a stellar job once again as Crane, and it was a blast getting to see his story continue. Unfortunately, a few performance issues and audio bugs lessened the experience, but overall, this is a great new entry to the franchise, and one Dying Light fans will be glad to have waited for.
Shacknews: 7 / 10 by John Schutt
A lot of the fun you can have with Dying Light: The Beast is what you make of it yourself. Exploring the world, unlocking the safe houses, finding cool new weapon modifications and crafting recipes, and generally getting lost. Nothing about the experience was groundbreaking, nor was it as enthralling or immersive as other open-world games. Instead, it was good fun you can enjoy in short or long bursts, whether you want to sink your teeth into zombie hunting or chilling as you wander the wilds and urban spaces of Castor Hills.
Thumb Wars: 4.5 / 5 by Luke Addison
Dying Light: The Beast is a return to the zombie-slaughter, parkour-jumping form we needed, and it never disappoints. From huge hordes to new enemies, human and not, it’ll not only have you running for your life, but desperately seeking out shelter in a way the franchise has been missing for a while. Horror fan? Zombie fan? Parkour fan? All-out-carnage fan? You won’t regret getting Techland’s latest offering.
