Netflix today published a financial report, which included many interesting information the company’s financial condition and more. We learned, among other, viewing figures of several large productions that debuted in recent months, such as Sex Education or Bird Box. The first title was viewed in almost 40 million households during the first month. The second one attracted nearly twice as many users (in the same time period). The streaming giant is proud of its achievements, in particular the high-profile, full-length movies the company has produced.
“The global reach of our audience and the quality of experience producing for Netflix continues to attract the world’s top directors. We are expanding the film market: while our films drew bigger and bigger audiences in Q4, the North American box office also set records. Today, five weeks after its Netflix debut, ROMA is still being exhibited in theatres and has played on over 900 unique screens around the world, including some special 70mm format presentations. People love films..... at home and in theatres, we read in the report.”
The Spanish TV series Élite can also be considered a success, as it was viewed by 20 million users of the platform in the same time period.
“ Around the world, our titles are not only pleasing consumers, but they are transforming the careers of our talent. Elite, our Spanish original, has been a huge success with over 20 million member households around the world enjoying the series in its first four weeks on service1. In addition to being highly watched, social engagement has been phenomenal and the cast's popularity on social media skyrocketed, continuing to demonstrate our ability to be a launching pad for talent, boasts Netflix.“
The company seems to be satisfied with the results, and considers its main to competition to be not the other streaming platforms but.... video games (with particular emphasis on Fortnite, hit from the Epic Games studio). We take this chance to remind you that the new seasons of The Punisher and Star Trek Discovery debut on Netflix today.
