Idris Elba is the actor whose name appears most often in the context of Daniel Craig's successor. No wonder, because he showed great acting talent in virtually every production in which he played in his long career. He became famous as a relentless detective in Luther, and some time ago Barbara Broccoli herself admitted that Idris was considered for the role. Even Initial talks regarding the signing of the contract have been conducted.

Idris Elba has the right looks, charm and charisma to play this character. Let's not forget that he was awarded, among others, the Golden Globe, and during his career he proved that he is not afraid of any role. That's why we could see him, among others, in the comedy series The Office, where he played vice president Dunder Mifflin for several episodes.

Unfortunately, there is the matter of 007 fans, who do not support his candidancy. There are actually two aspects to this. The first is the actor's inadequate "appearance", which means that Agent 007 must not belong to any ethnic minority. It should be remembered, however, that initial James Bond films starring Daniel Craig also met with a lot of negative feedback. However, after starring in five films, the actor proved that acting skills count more than appearance. Idris cannot be denied these.

The second reason why Idris Elba couldn't play the British spy is his age. The actor is 49 years old and would probably be in his fifties when the new series would commence filming. By comparison, Daniel Craig was 36 when he was cast as James Bond and Pierce Brosnan was 41. Roger Moore, on the other hand, turned 45 when he started playing this character in Live and Let Die. So it would mean that Idris Elba would be the oldest Bond. But should age be an obstacle?

The creators could spin an experienced character who is already tired of the life of a spy. In such role, Idris Elba would be perfect.
