A Fold Apart is the work of an independent Lightning Rod Games studio. It is a debut production of this studio, but the developers from that team have gained experience in such companies as Ubisoft, EA, Disney Interactive, and UserJoy. A Fold Apart is a puzzle game in which players help a couple in love to fight against the typical obstacles of a long-distance relationship - barriers in communication. The player's task is to remove the obstacles that divide lovers by folding the boards and playing with perspective.
In A Fold Apart, players follow the fate of a couple in love who, for professional reasons, are forced to live in distant places. However, the heroes decide not to give up and will continue the relationship from a distance. As it happens in such cases, communication through text messages often ends in misunderstandings that make the characters distance themselves from each other. In A Fold Apart emotional problems take on a physical shape - obstacles on the path. The task of the player is to remove them.
The player moves the character on the platforms that are located on the boards, which are supposed to reproduce the sheets of paper. The art of paper folding - origami - was a clear inspiration for the artists. The goal of each level is to alter the boards in such a way as to get rid of the obstacles lurking on the platforms and unlock the rest of the way. In the game it is important to have the ability to play with perspective and a certain amount of imagination. There are more than 50 puzzles of varying degrees of complexity to solve.
It is worth mentioning the visuals, in which at first glance the angularity stands out - the world of the game is modeled on geometric principles, which were colored in pastel colors.
