Game Expansions for Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising 2: Case West
Dead Rising 2: Case West

Action 27 December 2010

Another expansion to Dead Rising 2 that constitutes a kind of epilogue to the events of the base game. This time around, the players get to seethe protagonist of the first installment of the series - Frank West - in action along with Chuck Greene. It is up to the two of them to stop another zombie threat and make sure that no one knows about Chuck’s involvement in the whole undertaking. Dead Rising 2: Case West does not introduce any changes to the gameplay mechanics, which are still based, first and foremost, on eliminating hordes of adversaries using a fancy and more or less makeshift weapons arsenal. What is new, however, is the cooperative mode, in which up to two players can complete this new chapter of the Dead Rising series. The new game mode makes it possible for players to come up with new methods of zombie extermination, which also affects the gameplay.

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero
Dead Rising 2: Case Zero

Action 31 August 2010

The first DLC for Dead Rising 2, introducing the players to the events that took place between the two major installments of Dead Rising - 2 years after the first and 3 years before the second part. One assumes the role of Chuck Greene, who, along with his daughter bitten by one of the titular undead, is trying to find a car with some reserves of Zombreks - a medication that a bitten person has to take every twelve hours in order not to turn into a living dead. Like in the base version of the game, the gameplay mechanics featured in Dead Rising 2: Case Zero build on the exploration and fighting hordes of opponents. In combat, one has to use anything they can get their hands on - more or less makeshift weapons, as well as items such as flowerpots, umbrellas, and teddy bears. All these objects can be combined to create deadly weapons. This way, the player earns the so-called Prestige Points, which can be spent whenever a character levels up, to increase their speed, strength, and damage resistance. Interestingly enough, there is nothing standing in player’s way to upload his character’s stats to the base game, after he finishes the Case Zero adventure.
