A police tactical shooter with a first-person camera and big focus on realism. Alpha Response was developed by Ultimo Ratio Games under the supervision of the author of the original Counter-Strike mod. The game can be played both alone or in a 4-person online coop.

Minh Le, known under the nickname Gooseman, is one of the developers of Counter-Strike. It started as a mod for the for the game Half-Life from Valve and eventually gave birth to the famous series. In 2021, veterans of series such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Counter-Strike, and the game Rust, founded Ultimo Ratio Games studio and started a collaboration with Gooseman. Their project is the tactical police shooter described here, titled Alpha Response.

Gameplay

In Alpha Response we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).

Mission objectives and settings

During the game, we take on the roles of members of elite police units, who respond to crises all over the world. The objectives set before us include rescuing hostages, disarming explosive charges, and eliminating enemy forces. All of this happens in places like streets, metro stations, industrial complexes or impressive cathedrals.

Enemies and ways to defeat them

On our way, we encounter not only hostile people, but also hostile dogs, armored vehicles, and helicopters. The creators made an effort to make the enemies behave in an unpredictable manner, so the key to success here is the ability to quickly adapt to the situation on the battlefield. This is not the end, as the coordination of actions with the other members of the unit also plays an important role (for which a sense of tactics is useful).

Arsenal

We eliminate enemies by making use of a wide range of weapons, including pistols, assault rifles, and grenades. The arsenal is complemented by combat vehicles, which we can control.
