Alwa's Awakening is the work of the independent studio Elden Pixels. This production is a representative of the metroidvania genre; its creators drew inspiration from the achievements of classics released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console.

Plot

Alwa's Awakening takes us to the titular land of Alwa, which has been invaded by dark forces. When Zoe, a girl from another world equipped with a magic staff, appears on the spot in unknown circumstances, the inhabitants of Alwa begin to see her arrival as a chance to overcome the danger and to restore the old order in their homeland. The protagonist has no choice but to face the threat and help the oppressed people.
