Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins is the result of cooperation between the Black Lantern Studios development team and PopCap Games, a company specializing in casual productions (occasional players). The game is the third, after Amazing Adventures: The Lost Tomb and Amazing Adventures: Around the World, the edition of the cycle known primarily to PC and Mac users.

Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins is set in South America. The player plays the role of an adventurer who, commissioned by an archaeological museum, traverses exotic locations following the remains of Mayan civilisation.

The main campaign has been divided into 18 missions, during which the player has to face up to 70 tasks verifying, among others, perceptiveness, concentration, memory and the ability to think logically. While playing, you can unlock two additional modes for infinite gameplay.

The game is a combination of hidden object puzzles and point-of-difference puzzles. The reward for completing tasks are not only points, but also bonuses in the form of guard glyphs and emerald masks. Thanks to the implemented social features, players can compare their results with others.

In the visual layer of Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins offers vivid 2D graphics with photorealistic elements. In-game control takes advantage of the capabilities of the Nintendo DS console, including the touchscreen display of the device.
