A colourful platform game based on Brazilian beliefs and legends, alluding to the classic Disney games. In the game we play the role of a young warrior, who in order to save the chief of the tribe and to do his charm, will have to get a feather of an extremely rare species of harp, nesting in the high mountains, inhabited by a tribe of cannibals.
Aritana and the Harpy's Feather, released on PC and XONE, is a platformer designed for younger audiences, slightly reminiscent of classic Disney platformers such as Aladdin or Tarzan. The game was developed a small Brazilian studio Duaik, which has been awarded a number of industry distinctions and awards for its production.
The plot of Aritana and the Harpy's Feather is set in the world of Brazilian beliefs and legends. The leader of the brave tribe of Tabatha warriors is suffering from a strange disease. When tribal shaman Raoni discovers that the leader's body has been taken over by the evil Forest Spirit, Tabatha's only chance is an ancient ritual. The problem is that the main element of the ritual is a feather of a very rare harpy species, called Uiruuete. The only place where they can be found are the high mountains, inhabited by a tribe of Mapinguari cannibals.
We play as the titular Aritana, whose task is to get the unique feather. To do so, our hero has to travel through many dangerous lands, such as tropical forests, underground caves and mountain peaks, and face forest spirits as well as dangerous natives. As in any typical platformer, the core of the game is exploration and collection of items, and the key to success is mastering different types of attacks and avoiding traps. Aritana has access to the shaman's staff, which we can improve - the staff gains a number of useful special abilities, such as increased speed or higher jump. Thanks to these abilities, we can find hidden magical artifacts, which open the way to the Spiritual World and allow us to increase the level of our health.
Aritana and the Harpy's Feather features colorful graphics running on the Unity engine. The game is relatively easy, but due to the rather complex (for a platformer) controls, it is recommended to use a gamepad.
