ARK: Extinction is an expansion to the online survival action game ARK: Survival Evolved. This is the third add-on to the title, after Scorched Earth and Aberration. All these productions were developed by Studio Wildcard.
By creating this DLC, the authors did not force themselves to introduce any radical changes to the gameplay mechanisms. Instead, they focused on the preparation of the new content. This add-on allows you to go to Earth for the first time, full of human civilization ruins and gigantic beasts known as Titans, where even the most magnificent dinosaur species seem small. These powerful creatures can capture and train. They also act as minibosses. After defeating all of them we get an opportunity to face something even bigger.
In ARK: Extinction there are also more classic dinosaurs. Among them there is a synthetic species known as Enforcer, capable of climbing the walls, making quick sideways movements (in practice it is an old good strafe) and teleporting for short distances.
Another new inhabitant of the game world is a genre called Gasbag. It plays the role of a mule, useful for transporting heavy objects. We put a load on it and then fill its body with air until it starts to resemble a balloon. Then, by releasing the accumulated gas, we can control its flight.
There were also new objects. Manually controlled drones allow us to safely carry out scouts and mark enemies. We can also attach an explosive charge to these devices and send them, for example, to the enemy base. We also use balloons to transport goods, but other players can shoot them down relatively easily, so more valuable shipments are better delivered with these Gasbag dinosaurs. There is also a special cryogenic chamber, which allows to freeze and reduce the number of trained animals, which greatly facilitates their transport.
The game is made more attractive by the appearance of distorted artifacts in the game world. They are able to infect dinosaurs, which then become much more aggressive and begin to behave like part of a hive. The healing is accompanied by valuable raw material, thanks to which we receive dynamically generated missions, in which we gather this substance, repelling the attacks of animals transformed by it.
ARK: Extinction offers a similar level of performance to ARK: Survival Evolved. The big advantage of the production are nice locations, strongly diverging from what the fans of this production could see so far.
It is worth mentioning that Extinction is a non-self-reliant addition, so it requires a basic version of the game.
