Although the Assassin's Creed series is primarily a production designed for single-player gameplay, over the years the brand has "romanced" with multiplayer modes. Eventually, Ubisoft decided to develop its fully online installment, operating under the code name Assassin's Creed: Invictus.
We first heardabout the French giant developing a multiplayer ACin 2022. At that time, however, we did not learn anything concrete about it. More light was shed on the entire project by reports from September 2024, according to which the fun of this production would bring to mind the game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.
As unconfirmed information suggested, Assassin's Creed: Invictus was to offer fun based on rounds and the gradual elimination of players who failed to complete their objectives until a winner was determined. Among the gameplay modes would appear deathmatch (and a team variant of this module) and race. The character list would include Ezio Auditore da Firenze, among others, while the maps would feature Pompeii gradually flooded by lava.
As for the alleged artistic direction of the developers - in January 2026 there were further unofficial reports, according to which among the developers behind Assassin's Creed: Invictus there was dissatisfaction and conviction that the whole project would fail. The reasons for this were allegedly "pathetic animations, hideous and caricatured characters," absurd sound and visual effects, and aggressive monetization.
We had to wait until March 2026 for the first official word on Assassin's Creed: Invictus. At that time, the newly elected head of the brand, Jean Guesdon, confirmed that such a project was indeed being developed, although he also noted that the "team behind it is extremely committed to what it is creating, and its work reflects ... the broader goal of offering a greater variety of experiences in the world of?Assassin's Creed." According to his words, the game itself, on the other hand, was to represent "a new approach to multiplayer mode in the series, but not quite what the rumors suggested."

A series produced and published by the Ubisoft corporation, which was born as an open-world action game, but years later made a turn towards the action RPG genre. The series debuted in 2007 with the game Assassin's Creed. Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond and Corey May are considered to be the creators of the brand.
Assassin's Creed: Invictus is set to be a multiplayer game, and recent reports indicate an alleged and rather unexpected inspiration for Ubisoft.
