Release Date: September 19, 2025
An action game with mechs, featuring both racing and combat. Break Arts III belongs to a series started in 2015. We can design our own mech and participate in various matches, which can be about destroying our enemies or reaching the finishing line in first place. We can have fun alone or in coop (with the option of several people controlling one mech).
In 2015, the independent Japanese team MercuryStudio and the company Playism delivered Breakarts: Cyber Battle Racing. It was an unusual production with mechs. It offered a chance to sit behind the controls of the colossal machines to participate in races and to fight on the arenas. Three years later, its sequel, Break Arts II, debuted. Break Arts III described here, however, represents the third installment of this series.
In Break Arts III we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The game allows us to take control over the mechs, and the gameplay varies depending on the chosen mode. Standard races were made available to us, in which we rush along the tracks, trying to cross the finish line in first place. There are also battles, in which we enter arenas and fight with other mechs, avoiding enemy attacks and trying to eliminate opponents. The icing on the cake are a kind of hybrid competitions, combining racing on tracks with the need to destroy our enemies.
The game has implemented an advanced creator that allows us to customize the mech to individual preferences. With the help of various modules, we decide whether our priority will be its speed and mobility, or strength and effectiveness of the attack. This last one determines the placement of weapons, which we can install in various places, like arms or even the back. We need to pay attention to the parameters of our mech, which are shaped by all our changes in its design.
Tools also allow us to extensively modify the appearance of our mechs. It is achieved through different color settings and animations.
Given that controlling mechs requires training, special assists have been prepared for newcomers. They can help to navigate turns or shoot at targets while moving. Players who are not skilled in mech construction can instead make use of the Casual Design mode, where designing their own machine is simplified.
Break Arts III can be played alone or in multiplayer mode over the Internet. We can freely change the rules of multiplayer gameplay. This includes influencing environmental conditions (such as temperature or gravity), which affects the behavior of mechs. The heart of the multiplayer fun is the ranked Score Attack Mode, in which we collect points and climb up the leaderboards.
The game has implemented an original form of cooperative mode, allowing multiple players to pilot a single mech. The Diorama mode deserves a separate mention, where we get access to all parts of the mech and we can create any constructions, and then capture them in photographs.
