Build-a-lot, released on NDS and PC, is a simple economic strategy, in which we play the role of a real estate manager, skillfully managing our lots. The game was developed and published by Mumbo Jumbo.

Mechanics

The main goal of Build-a-lot is to transform a small company into a large financial empire. We spend the majority of our time on designing, building, buying, renting and selling land, buildings and premises. In the initial phase of the game, the range of our capabilities is mainly limited to the management of buildings and flats of a lower standard, however, as the game progresses, we will unlock more prestigious constructions - residences, estates and even luxurious palaces.

The game has very simple economic dependencies. We must skillfully regulate rental and sale prices, as well as successively equipping properties with new components. The latter category includes burglar alarms, swimming pools, and gyms. The level of satisfaction of future and present residents may also be positively influenced by public buildings - schools, museums or banks. Some of these designs unlock additional options. For example, tool shop unlocks a bonus thanks to which you can train the workforce for less money.

Game modes

Build-a-lot offers two basic game modes. In Career Mode, we have 35 levels to complete which take place in eight cities. Each time we have to meet specific goals within the time limit. The tasks may include, among other things, the construction of several buildings of a given type, reaching a certain income from rent or encouraging a famous person to buy an apartment. The second available mode is Casual Mode. Here, we can play without time limits and additional requirements, and we have the full freedom in making decisions.
