A football tycoon strategy game, focused on preparing our home city for football matches. In Copa City we must build the infrastructure, promote upcoming events and satisfy the fans. The game offers several licensed clubs and stadiums, as well as various modes.
Copa City is an economic strategy focusing on organizing football matches. Our tasks include selling tickets, advertising sports events, and preparing infrastructure with fans in mind. The game features six licensed football clubs (including Arsenal F.C. and Bayern Munich), as well as three authentic stadiums (including the Polish PGE Narodowy stadium). It is the debut project of the Polish studio Triple Espresso.
The game offers a campaign during which we coordinate activities related to the organization of matches at the home stadium. As we progress in the game, we are faced with increasingly bigger challenges. The story mode is aimed at people who are beginning their adventure with the genre.
Copa City is a strategy in which we take on the role of the host of a football match, dealing both with its organization and the logistical preparation of the city for the event. Thanks to licenses for real stadiums and clubs, their characteristic elements appear in the game. In the case of football teams, it's not only the crest and colors, but also things like club chants or specific preferences of the fans of a particular team.
The game allows us to plan routes, as well as, for example, build a hotel base, restaurants or temporary fan zones. The investments we undertake aim to satisfy four basic needs of fans, which are related to accommodation, entertainment, catering, and ensuring safety. The requirements depend on which groups the fans belong to, therefore we need to take into account the needs of both hardcore fans and families visiting football matches.
Promotion plays a crucial role, thanks to which we increase the available budget. Aggressive advertising and strong exposure of sponsors can discourage fans, so it is necessary to maintain a balance in our actions.
Copa City was created with the single player in mind. The game offers three modes. Apart from the story campaign, we also have two modes aimed at experienced tycoon fans. The first of them is Challenge - a scenario that sets a specific goal for us, giving us an hour to accomplish it. In Single Match mode, we choose the city, competing teams, and economic conditions, and then carry out tasks related to the event.

Game Ratings for Copa City Video Game.
Thumb Culture: 3 / 5
Copa City takes a refreshing approach to the football management genre by shifting the focus away from what happens on the pitch. It instead puts you in charge of everything that surrounds matchday. Organising transport, entertainment, security, and fan experiences creates a unique challenge that helps the game stand out from the crowd. That said, issues with the interface and camera controls can make the experience more frustrating than it should be. Even so, Triple Espresso deserves credit for taking a risk on such an original concept that feels genuinely different. While it ultimately wasn’t a game that clicked with me personally, fans of management sims and football culture may find plenty to enjoy here. For its solid foundations, ambition and originality, I’m awarding Copa City a Thumb Culture Silver Award.
TheSixthAxis: 6 / 10 by Aran Suddi
Copa City has potential and with regular updates it could become a really good tycoon management game surrounding football events. However, it needs issues to be addressed like performance and for things to be better explained so players are not overwhelmed with quests that introduce new things without a heads up.
GameWatcher: 7 / 10 by Neil Bolt
Copa City brings a refreshing take on football management by focusing on an aspect of the beautiful game that gets overlooked elsewhere. Planning and executing the matchday experience for a club and its city works fits snugly into the various sub-genres the game employs, but be ready to face a frustrating lesson or two if you're playing on console.
