In Dark Legions two powerful armies, representing the forces of Light and Darkness, face each other. The player has a predetermined amount of cash and buys units for his team, which he then sets in one of the twenty locations prepared by the authors of the game. The boards are divided into fields, resembling a chessboard. When moving troops, you should find your opponents as soon as possible and then destroy them in a direct confrontation. The whole battle is won by the one who manages to regain the magical ball held by the enemy. Of course, the player does not know which of the opponents is in possession of the artifact, so he must successively eliminate all of them one by one.

Just like in Archon, all direct clashes in Dark Legions are arcade in character. When observing the battlefield from a bird's eye view, use the special attack of the blast and get rid of your opponent as soon as possible before he kills you. The power of monsters is determined by various coefficients, which we can learn in detail by looking at the statistics (available both during the selection of characters and during the battle). In addition to battles involving monsters, Dark Legions also offers the opportunity to set traps and buy special rings that can tip the scales of victory to your advantage. In the game there is both one-person and multiplayer gameplay.

Dark Legions is characterized by fabulous audiovisual setting, perfectly prepared silhouettes of monsters and great animation of characters on the battlefield. The gameplay is always accompanied by atmospheric music, which is a perfect background for rather slow action. As for the clone of the legendary Archon, Silicon Knights is far above the original. However, fans of complex strategies will not have anything to look for in Dark Legions.
