DeadEnd: Cerebral Vortex is a first person perspective logic game (FPP), created by Lithuanian development studio Membranos Interactive Media. The action is set in a surreal world of the subconscious, and the player wanders through an illusory maze, trying to collect fragments of his broken soul.
DeadEnd: Cerebral Vortex is the first game in the achievements of an independent Lithuanian development studio Membranos Interactive Media. The intention of the artists was to break the boundaries of genres and replace the traditional narrative with symbolism.
DeadEnd Action: Cerebral Vortex is set in the subconscious. The player travels through claustrophobic labyrinths, trying to find fragments of his soul known as soul cubes (soul cubes). The task is hampered by the fact that many elements of the environment are illusions.
The creators prepared a total of 20 boards in 5 surrealistic lands of the subconscious. In many cases, the completion of a given level of play requires the use of special properties of objects found along the way (e.g. mechanical eyes, teleporters, paint buckets) or the activation of appropriate mechanisms (switches).
The work of the developers from Membranos Interactive Media is distinguished by artistic minimalism in the visual setting and a user interface that is simplified to the limit. The atmosphere of the uncanny is intensified by the atmospheric sound setting.
