Derelicts is an independent survival game by Romain Piquot, developed in Unreal Engine 5 for solo or cooperative play of up to 4 persons. The production takes us to an Earth destroyed by a radiation catastrophe, where gathering resources, building a base and obtaining energy from nature: water, wind and sun become key.

Gameplay

The action in Derelicts is observed from a first-person perspective, and the basis of gameplay is survival, exploration and construction - we must gather resources, cut down trees, find metals and materials, and then erect shelters and functional buildings.

A unique aspect of the game is the nature-based energy system: water (water mills), wind (turbines), and solar panels can be used to power the base - depending on the weather and time of day. In addition, water is used to transport wood - through canals and a system of pumps, which allows you to automate operations, such as turning raw material into boards.

The game world is hostile: in addition to threats from mutated humans and animals, in our adventure we face weather - frost, storms, snow - which affect energy production and make survival difficult. Exploration includes the discovery of terrain, excavation sites, searching for technologies and schemes that allow you to develop your base, create better equipment and reach closed zones that act as so-called dungeons.

Game modes

Derelicts was designed as both a single-player and cooperative experience. The game allows you to survive alone in an open world, where you are single-handedly responsible for building a base, acquiring resources and defending against threats.

The production also supports cooperative gameplay of up to four persons, allowing you to create a common settlement, share tasks and face dangers as a group.

Storyline

In the world of Derelicts, Earth was destroyed by a mysterious mechanism that flooded the planet with radiation. Only a few survivors - daredevils and escapees - have a chance to w?re back on the ground and discover the cause of the disaster. As survivors, we return to the ruined planet to not only survive, but also to build a base and investigate the source of the radiation.
